About Amanda Pelaez, LCSW

A grounded, compassionate approach to healing and nervous system support.

Healing often begins in relationships where we feel safe enough to slow down, be understood, and begin making sense of what we’ve been carrying.

My work is rooted in creating that kind of space — one that feels supportive, collaborative, and paced in a way that respects both your experiences and your nervous system.

Whether you are navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, emotional overwhelm, or major life transitions, my goal is to help you better understand your patterns, reconnect with yourself, and move toward lasting, meaningful change.

My Background & Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Substance Abuse Professional with more than eighteen years of experience supporting individuals, children, couples, and families.

Throughout my career, I have worked with clients navigating:

  • Trauma and Complex PTSD

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression and mood disorders

  • Addiction and codependency

  • Relationship challenges

  • Grief and loss

  • Life transitions and nervous system overwhelm

In addition to my clinical work, I have provided continuing education and professional trainings for community organizations, schools, law enforcement agencies, and healthcare professionals throughout South Florida. These presentations have focused on trauma recovery, nervous system regulation, family systems, integrative healing approaches, and mental health education.

For many years, I also served as a board member and presenter with the South Florida Society of Trauma-Based Disorders, contributing to professional education and community awareness around trauma-informed care.

My work also includes supporting military populations, first responders, and individuals navigating high-stress or high-pressure environments.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is trauma-informed, somatic, and deeply individualized.

I integrate evidence-based therapies with body-based and experiential approaches to support healing not only emotionally and mentally, but physically as well. Together, we pay attention to patterns, relationships, nervous system responses, and the ways past experiences may continue to impact present-day life.

Sessions are collaborative and paced thoughtfully. You won’t be pushed to move faster than your system is ready for.

I believe therapy should support both insight and regulation — helping you better understand yourself while also building tools to feel more grounded, connected, and supported in everyday life.

Training & Therapeutic Approaches

My training includes advanced and ongoing education in trauma recovery, nervous system regulation, relationship therapy, and integrative mental health approaches.

This includes training in:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

  • Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT / Tapping)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

  • Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)

  • Family Systems & Family Constellation work

  • Somatic and nervous system-based approaches

  • Trauma-informed yoga and integrative wellness practices

My work is also influenced by both modern trauma research and eastern philosophies that support mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and mind-body connection.

What It’s Like to Work Together

Therapy with me is collaborative, steady, and supportive.

Some sessions may focus on processing past experiences, while others may focus more on present-day stress, relationships, emotional regulation, or practical coping tools.

There is no expectation to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We begin where you are and move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Above all, I want clients to feel heard, respected, and safe enough to explore what healing may look like for them.

Virtual Therapy Across Florida

All sessions are currently offered virtually, serving individuals, couples, teens, and families throughout Florida.

Virtual therapy allows clients to access support from the comfort and privacy of their own environment while still building meaningful therapeutic connection and consistency.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

Reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable — especially if you’re used to carrying things on your own.

If you’re wondering whether therapy may be helpful or whether we’re the right fit, we can start with a conversation.
